The Navajo and Blackfoot
Both of the tribes are very experienced in arts and crafts. Both tribes also varied with what they made. The Navajo did a lot of silver work creating belts, necklaces, earrings and rings. The Blackfoot carved pipes out of wood. Some were beautifully decorated. The Blackfoot also painted. They made paints from natural dyes using berry juice and other plants .Most paintings were of action scenes like of hunts, warriors riding horses, and warriors shooting bows and arrows. Last, both tribes were extremely experienced in one special technique. The Navajo created blankets that were even more colorful and patterns more difficult, than blankets made by the famous Pueblo weavers. Their blankets were made out of wool not cotton. The Blackfoot specialized in quill work. They wove geometric designs into their clothing, moccasins, and other personal goods using porcupine quills.
